A court renewed, a dream reinforced

Refreshing a basketball court to spark big dreams at a primary school.

How much of a childhood dream can a single basketball carry? How many laughs can a court capture as kids sprint from baseline to baseline? For students at a primary school, this winter brings a fresh beginning: a safer, brighter place to chase the game—and their goals.

Opening day: first tip, first smile

Through Ekr’s community impact program, our team funded and completed a full refresh of the school’s basketball court and hosted a tip-off ceremony to celebrate its reopening.

Michael Li, General Manager at Ekr, joined students on opening day and shared how basketball shaped his own childhood:

“Basketball is more than a sport. It teaches teamwork, persistence, and how to win within the rules—and how to lose with dignity. I hope this new court becomes a starting line for your dreams. Run hard, jump high, and take your best shot.”

The ceremonial first tip wasn’t just symbolic—it set the tone for pick-up games that followed, with cheers echoing across the freshly painted surface.

What changed—and why it matters

  • Safety & clarity: A smooth, even surface with eco-friendly coatings and high-visibility lines makes play clearer and safer.
  • Durability: Upgraded materials improve traction and resist daily wear from recess, PE, and after-school scrimmages.
  • School pride: Crisp colors add a bright focal point to campus life—because great play deserves a great stage.

Why invest in a court? Because movement fuels learning. Sports help kids build coordination and confidence and—just as importantly—practice cooperation and respect. A quality play space turns everyday effort into team habits that last.

Our commitment: building spaces that build kids

At Ekr, we believe education isn’t only what happens in the classroom. It’s the confidence earned from a clean pass, the calm before a free throw, and the promise that effort adds up.

Supporting school sports facilities is a key part of Ekr’s community work. This project is one small step. We’ll keep investing—carefully and consistently—in programs that help children put down their phones, step outside, and find joy in active play.
