How Did EKR Support a Primary School Basketball Court?
In 2025, EKR supported a full refresh of a primary school basketball court through the EKR Cares community program. The renewed court was reopened with students, teachers, school representatives, and members of the EKR team.
The project focused on creating a cleaner, brighter, and more welcoming space where students can play, practice, spend time together, and build positive experiences through sport.
A Court Renewed for Everyday School Life
This project was about more than repainting a playing surface. It was about giving students a refreshed place to move, play, compete, and spend time together.
What Changed on the Basketball Court?
Refreshed Playing Surface
The project renewed the basketball court surface to create a cleaner and more consistent area for everyday school use.
Clear Court Markings
Updated court lines made the playing areas easier to recognize during practice, physical education, and student games.
Brighter Visual Design
Fresh colors gave the court a more energetic appearance and helped turn it into a visible part of everyday campus life.
A Shared Space
The renewed court created another place for students to spend time together, practice, play, and participate in school activities.
The First Game Was the Beginning, Not the Finish
After the refresh was completed, students, teachers, school representatives, and EKR team members gathered for the court's reopening.
The ceremony marked the return of the court to everyday school life, followed by basketball and student activities on the newly refreshed surface.
For us, the most meaningful part of the project was seeing the space immediately become active again.
Sport Can Teach Lessons That Go Beyond the Score
Michael Li, General Manager at EKR, joined students on opening day and spoke about how basketball had influenced his own childhood.
His message focused on teamwork, persistence, respecting the rules, learning how to handle both winning and losing, and having the confidence to keep taking the next shot.
Those ideas reflect why we wanted this project to create more than a visually refreshed court: we wanted the space to continue supporting everyday opportunities for students to learn through play.

Refreshing a basketball court to spark big dreams at a primary school.
How much of a childhood dream can a single basketball carry? How many laughs can a court capture as kids sprint from baseline to baseline? For students at a primary school, this winter brings a fresh beginning: a safer, brighter place to chase the game—and their goals.
Opening day: first tip, first smile
Through Ekr’s community impact program, our team funded and completed a full refresh of the school’s basketball court and hosted a tip-off ceremony to celebrate its reopening.
Michael Li, General Manager at Ekr, joined students on opening day and shared how basketball shaped his own childhood:
“Basketball is more than a sport. It teaches teamwork, persistence, and how to win within the rules—and how to lose with dignity. I hope this new court becomes a starting line for your dreams. Run hard, jump high, and take your best shot.”
The ceremonial first tip wasn’t just symbolic—it set the tone for pick-up games that followed, with cheers echoing across the freshly painted surface.
